The 10K motto

Get started on your 10.000 hours

The name 10K is not about money though it is about investing. It refers to the "10,000-Hour Rule" mentioned by Malcolm Gladwell in his book outliers for which he uses a study by Ander Ericsson. The rule states that  that 10,000 hours of "deliberate practice" are needed to become world-class.

And although our frame of reference isn’t the same as in a book where, among others, Bill Gates and the Beatles are given as examples. We do believe that serious investment is needed to master something. For us it is about having 10.000 hours’ worth of skin in the game and that is a serious amount.

It is a commitment you can’t do alone and will be hard and you will not make it if you are only in it for the money.

Create a team, so that everybody can pitch in to reach the 10.000 hours mark faster but prepare for humiliating mistakes along the way. And you will definitely be exposed to criticism and will have to try new stuff you never thought you would do.

It will be 10.000 hours of working really, really hard but also full of designing, learning and experimenting. But it will be fun, exciting and absolutely worth it, and who know what you might end up with… your own startup?
