This conference is the final event of the international Positive Psychology Minor Programme. A programme offered by the University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam.

In February 2019, the fourth edition of our international minor in Positive Psychology started. On the 14th of June, we will end this minor with an inspiring conference on Positive Psychology. This conference will focus on the application of Positive Psychology in everyday life. We will offer you a variety of inspirational key-note speakers and workshops (developed by the students as the final product of their minor programme).

This years key-note speakers are:

  • Clara den Boer, founder of ‘Gelukskoffer’, a positive psychology based social enterprise that aims at supporting children to enhance their own leadership and wellbeing.
  • Evelien Veenman, Chief Happiness Officer at Experius, where her aim is to create and enhance happiness at work for every employee.

We warmly invite you to join us on this Positive Psychology conference and be inspired! Auditorium Kohnstammhuis, Wibautstraat 2-4, Amsterdam.

Programme

  • 13:15: Walk-in
  • 13.30: Welcome and introduction
  • 13.45: First keynote speaker: Clara den Boer
  • 14.15: Workshop of your choice, hosted by the students of the Positive Psychology Minor Programme
  • 15.30: Second keynote speaker: Evelien Veenman
  • 16.00 - 17.00: Round-up and drinks

The event is free of charge. Please register for the conference and the different parts of the programme you wish to attend. 

Workshops

During this final event of our International Positive Psychology minor, we offer you a variety of inspiring speakers, creative and innovative wokshops. 

Do you ever feel like you’ve wasted a day by being in a bad mood? Nothing seems to get you out of it and all you want to do is lay in bed. I think we’ve all been there…

In this workshop we will show you how you can take control of your mood by experimenting with music. It’s going to be a creative experience so come join us and chances are you leave in a better mood!

Did you know you make assumptions within seconds after meeting someone? Ofcourse you do, because we do it all the time. In the train, on the streets, at work, everywhere. But are all assumptions negative or can we turn them in to something positive? Yes, we can. Come to our workshop and experience some fun ways of judging.

Is your mind full and do you have the feeling you are not living in the moment? Do you feel like missing out on great moments? Come back to the present through this creative session. You'll learn to be more mindful and let your mind shine. 

Relationships with your friends, family and loved ones can be wonderful, but truly messy as well. 

In this workshop we will help you to raise awareness about your current relationships. Good relationships don’t just happen, they’re build and taken care of. Positive relationships increase your health and well-being, that’s why we want to help you to improve them! We will suffice you with the required theory and let you practice this in the form of a fun activity. At the end we will help you (re)connect with one of your loved ones. So come and join us!

Are you living your life or just existing and surviving day to day?

In this workshop we want to discover meaning IN life – anyone can find this already in themselves. You’ll become aware of your inner values, talents, potential and your purpose. We want to experience transcendence together and learn how we can value others and find others who value us.

Barbara Fredrickson, our positive psychology guru, once said “Gratitude is one of the easiest positive emotions to conjure up out of thin air”, so why not give it a go? Being grateful triggers positive emotions and adds a feeling of meaning to your life. People who regularly practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon things they’re thankful for, experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, sleep better, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems. During our workshop we will present you the tools to experience more happiness in daily life.

How does social media affect your well-being? Are you ready to dive into a session of rethinking your attitude to social media, find meaning and experience more positive emotion? Join us!

Everybody says they want to be happy when they grow up, but how do you do this? How do you achieve happiness? We will let you in on some of the secrets to a happier life by focusing on positive emotions. Attending our workshop will help you learn about amazing effects of positive emotions on your wellbeing by experiencing it yourself. Moreover you will get a little present for you to keep, that will remind you of what makes you happier.
