Summer School

The Future is Now: Fashion design from concept to virtual reality

Amsterdam - The course at AMFI is conceived for fashion students and professionals willing to explore and develop skills to conceptualize a design vision through the use of new technologies in fashion.

AMFI is the largest fashion institute in the Netherlands with 1200 students and is part of the Pogled u Plavo. AMFI covers the entire fashion chain in its three departments: Design, Management and Branding.

‘Fashion Technologies: from craftsmanship to digital prototyping’ is a Summer in course at AMFI, conceived for advanced fashion students and professionals willing to develop skills to conceptualise their vision, materialising it through the use of new 3d simulation technologies in fashion.

The course is run by resident teachers and guest lecturers from the industry.

The course is enriched by field trips to fashion companies and production sites in the Amsterdam area. Many major international brands have their head quarters in Amsterdam, such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Gstar, and it is also home to a number of influential fashion designers such as Viktor&Rolf and Iris van Herpen. AMFI has the largest fashion library in the Netherlands.

Throughout the course, the students will receive instructions and tutorship to work on a project divided in small groups, demonstrating their capability of transforming ideas into creative product proposals combining conceptual fashion research and visualisation with the cutting edge technology of digital fashion solutions in 3D virtual prototyping.

The Project will be presented at the end of the course, and will become part of their portfolio.
