Summer School

Live like the locals: arrange student housing in Amsterdam. Have your own private room, or share a flat with others. Enjoy cooking with other international students or eating out in the many nice restaurants or cafés. Amsterdam is easy to traverse on bicycle; you'll know your way around in no time.

If you want the full experience for your summer, choose a student housing arrangement. This information covers three options:

  • A private room arranged by the AUAS
  • A dormstyle room arranged by the AUAS
  • An arrangement of your own

The AUAS Summer School starts on Monday 1 July 2019. When using the AUAS Summer School housing arrangement, the arrival date is Friday 28 June 2019.

The AUAS Summer School has private and dormstyle rooms on offer for international students at different locations in Amsterdam. Please note, you will always be accommodated with a number of other summer school students. The housing of students of each course depends on the number of participants. We will not be able to let you know which residence you will be staying in until the day of your arrival.

Two types of rooms are offered:

Type 1: Private room

Type 2: Dormstyle room

Note that the student arrangements described here emphasize independent living and are therefore not hotel-standard: please do not expect hotel services such as reception, daily cleaning, indoor dining arrangements and the like. Rooms will of course be cleaned before arrival, though, and bedding and cleaning supplies are available in the room.

The number of private and dormstyle rooms is limited. The dormstyle rooms have been fully booked. If you want to book a private room, please make sure to apply no later than 1 May 2019 to save your spot!

Check-in and Check-out

Residence assistants of the AUAS Summer School Support Team will be at the accommodations on Friday 28 June to welcome you, and to hand you your key. If you are planning to arrive after 23.00 hours, you are advised to book a hotel for that night. The residence assistants will not be available at that time.

Housing is provided from Friday 28 June 14.00 hours, until 10.00 hours on Friday 12 July. Unfortunately it is not possible to prolong your stay in the accommodation. If you want to stay in Amsterdam longer, you will have to make other arrangements.

If you do not wish to make use of the housing arranged by the AUAS Summer School, you are welcome to arrange your own accommodation. There are many ways to do so. Either through airBnB, through friends, in youth hostels or hotels, or through international student boards. Please be aware that the summer is a busy time in Amsterdam, so make sure you book well in advance.
